Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing I wish you a very Happy New Year.
I hope you’ve had a fabulous time over the holiday period and are looking forward to making 2022 be the best year it can be for you. I want to help you step out into 2022 with some tips on how to stay happy during 2022.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the doing of our work and everything else that happens in our lives that we don’t pay attention as it starts to drift and we become stressed and unhappy.
Don’t let that be you!
At least once a month put an hour aside to work ON your career. Use the time to review your work values and the skills/qualities you are using (that’s your ideal job profile). If it isn’t matching up then do something about it so you keep that smile on your face throughout the year.
Emotions are the data that tell you if things are going well in your world. So take notice.
If you have a negative feeling about something, maybe its time to ask yourself “what would I rather be feeling?” or “what would I rather have?” That forces your mind to come up with better options.
See if you can come up with three answers, then pick the best and take action on it.
You’re great at what you do for work and at other things in your life. And if you’re like me and most other people, you’re probably not skilled in some other areas.
We seem to have a psyche that says asking for help is weak. It’s not!
Knowing when to ask for help and asking the right person for help is a strength.
If your teeth hurt, you probably ask the Dentist. If it’s your car, a mechanic; need a hair cut, a hair dresser. You go to a professional who is trained, expert in their area, and can help you.
If you need help with your career, I might be the guy to help. Or it might be another Career Professional (check out the UK Register of Career Development Professionals at www.thecdi.net/find-a-professional).
