The answer to this isn’t necessarily as obvious as you think!
OK, well I guess there’s one really obvious answer:
So that you’re always ready to go to the job market, especially when the unexpected happens like your role is made redundant.
BUT, there are other reasons that you will benefit by updating your CV regularly (I always suggest to my clients that they do a mini career review every 2-3 months, and this is part of it.)
You may not be aware that there are several types of CV depending what your objective or target is.
I’ve created a template showing you how to layout the three main styles of CV.
For the regular management of your career, I recommend a Functional style. You can then create a Reverse Chronological or Combination CV if you need to when you go to the job market.
